Redeveloping the Website for Vancouver’s Oldest Pub
The Cambie Bar is a Vancouver icon, the city’s oldest still-operating pub since 1897. Known for its lively atmosphere, great drinks, and the hostel upstairs, The Cambie attracts both locals and travelers looking for affordable food, strong drinks, and good company.
Their team already had a Webflow website in place, and while they liked the design, the underlying structure had become slow, difficult to manage, and not optimized for long-term growth. They asked us to fully redevelop the site in Webflow to improve speed, SEO, maintainability, and overall user experience.

Understanding the Challenge
The previous version of the website had a good visual foundation, but several technical issues were holding it back:
- Slow loading times
- Cluttered class structure that made updates difficult
- Outdated backend organization
- Inefficient or broken interactions
- Poor SEO structure
- Unscalable CMS setup
- No centralized event management system
The Cambie Bar also runs frequent events, weekly specials, and nightlife promotions, all of which needed a more reliable, easy-to-update solution.
Our goal was to rebuild their website without changing the visual direction, but instead making the website faster, cleaner, more stable, and easier to manage.
Full Webflow Redevelopment for Speed & Stability
We rebuilt the website with a strong focus on performance, structure, and long-term scalability.
This included:
- A cleaner, maintainable class system
- Simplified layout structure
- Optimized assets and scripts
- Faster load times and smoother interactions
- Responsive improvements across all breakpoints
- Semantic HTML and improved SEO foundation
- Rebuilt components for easier future edits
The final result is a site that feels the same visually, but performs dramatically better under the hood.

Custom CMS-Powered Events Calendar
One of the biggest new features was a fully custom-coded events calendar, built to handle multiple event collections.
The Cambie Bar hosts:
- Weekly events
- Special occasion nights
- Seasonal parties
- One-off promotions
We created a calendar system that:
- Pulls event data directly from Webflow CMS
- Combines multiple collections seamlessly
- Adapts automatically to new entries
- Displays events in a clear, responsive layout
- Works flawlessly on mobile
- Can be updated by staff with zero technical knowledge
This gave the team a centralized, automated way to promote everything happening at The Cambie.

A Better Menu Experience
The old menu was difficult to update and not fully responsive.
We redesigned the menu structure to be:
- Easier for the team to edit
- Fully CMS-controlled
- Optimized for mobile viewing
- Clean, readable, and quick to navigate
- Organized by categories for better UX
This made maintaining food and drink menus far easier for staff.

Marketing Integrations & Ongoing Management
To support their marketing efforts, we integrated:
- Mailchimp subscription system
- Clean forms for ongoing list building
- Tracking setup for analytics
After the rebuild, The Cambie Bar continued working with us for ongoing management, allowing them to:
- Add new events
- Adjust menus
- Update seasonal promos
- Maintain website performance
- Keep SEO strong and current

The Outcome
The Cambie Bar now has:
- A fast, modern, stable Webflow site
- A custom responsive events calendar pulling from CMS
- A redesigned, easy-to-update menu
- Better SEO and technical structure
- Clean code for long-term maintainability
- A professional setup that supports their nightlife and hospitality operations
The website now reflects the heritage of Vancouver’s oldest pub, but delivers a digital experience built for modern expectations.
